What is Spam?

No, we're not talking about mechanically separated meat products.

Spam is traditionally defined as unsolicited advertising in the form of an email or forum post, but on Wetpaint sites it can be a comment or the page content itself.

Examples of Spam on Wetpaint (Boo!)

• Joining a site solely for the purpose or promoting your own site and bombarding the members with requests to join your site. Spam.

• Adding or editing pages or adding links on Wetpaint Central in order to get people to visit your site. Spam.

• Unsolicited pages or links advertising, promoting, or otherwise trying to sell products or services. Yes, spam.

Not Spam (Yay!)

• Including a link to your site because you have a question or want some help with a page
• Asking a new friend to visit your site in an on topic thread or message
• Asking a site creator that has a similar site to yours if they want to exchange links

What should I do if I receive a spam message?

• Via private message - If it is obviously spam, block the user from sending you messages and report the user to the site moderators.
• Via a discussion forum post - Report the post to a moderator so they can delete the spam and possibly ban the user.
